Hey, I’m Back!
When I stepped away from the blog at the end of September, I really didn’t know if I would return to regular blogging. I had a lot happening in my life, my mental health was terrible, and I was putting a ton of pressure on myself to try to gain followers and attempt some sort of monefication in order to have money to survive. All of that added up to a very burned out me.
In the two months that I was away, I realized that I really do love blogging. I just don’t like the pressure to come up with new and unique posts with the intent to attract readers. It’s not about the numbers, it’s about loving books and sharing that love with others. I need to rebuild my community, but not the way I was doing it.
So I’ve scrapped all of the plans that I had put in place before my break, including the huge, labor intensive posts. And I’m going back to my happy place. I’ll be rejoining some of my favorite memes that I left when I felt my blog had become too “meme-y”. I’ll be writing discussion posts about what interests me and not necessarily the hot topics in the book world. I’ll be posting my spotlights for blog tours and reviews as I complete them. I’ll talk about my mental health, and sometimes the state of the world, but not with any specific schedule, just as the need arises.
Basically, I’m just putting more of me back into what I am sharing and less of the expectations that I created for myself. I still love libraries, audiobooks, diverse reads, and reading across genres and age groups. That part has always been true and will remain true forever.
I’ll be easing back into things this month, and won’t necessarily be posting every day. I will have a post go live at least once a week through December, and will return to a more regular posting schedule in January. I’ve missed this.
