Well, Actually
This edition features beautiful, teal-stained edges and embellished cover effects. While supplies last! An utterly delightful and sexy second-chance romance between a black cat and golden retriever with Mazey Edding's signature sparkling voice! Eva Kitt never expected to be the host of Sausage Talk, interviewing B-list celebrities over lukewarm hot dogs, instead of pursuing the journalism career she dreamed of. But when Eva’s impromptu public call out of her college ex goes viral, she’s thrust into…

I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Mazey Eddings and this was no exception!

Eva comes across as someone who doesn’t take anything from anyone and gives as good as she gets, but really she is just a bundle of insecurity and pain. She has felt invisible and unloved for almost her entire life, and it was reinforced by her relationship with Rylie in college. She’s trying to prove herself to people that are so completely unworthy of her, and my heart ached for her throughout the story.

Rylie was a jerk. And in some cases comes across as a bit of a jerk when he and Eva reunite, but his heart is actually in the right place and he has done some work on himself since their college meeting. I felt for Rylie and the grief he was dealing with, as well as his struggles with his sexuality and his broken heart. But what he did to Eva was not ok, and he does own up to that and he proves himself to be better.

One thing about the story that did make me angry was Eva’s bosses, and they way Eva kept excusing their actions and talking about how the big boss was her idol and Eva want to be just like her. In reality, both William and his mother were horrible people and cared more about advertising revenue that the mental health of their employees.

But I loved Eva and Rylie together, all of their banter was hilarious. And their heartfelt moments brought me to tears.

I also enjoyed the cameos by Lizzy and Rake (Lizzy Blake’s Best Mistake) and Harper and Dan (A Brush with Love). And I liked Rylie’s roommates and Eva’s best friends (though I did worry about her BF/producer for a bit).

Note: This is an LGBTQIA+ story even though the couple is MF as both characters are Bi.
