Conquering Projects

My newly unemployed status, while frustrating on so many levels, has also allowed me to tackle some bigger projects that I have needed to take care of. So at least I am staying busy so far.

Project #1 Book Corner

I mentioned before that I was running out of space for books. I had a bookcase and storage system at the office that I am now incorporating into my book corner. This will give me some much needed shelf space and also provide somewhere to store all of the miscellaneous stuff that has no home in my room. I have already moved the furniture into place, now I need to reorganize the books and set up a cozy reading spot.

Project #2 Desk & Nightstand

I have a small writing desk that doesn’t hold much, and nightstand that is too short for the height of my bed. I brought home a second small desk that is the perfect height to use as a nightstand. I can then slip the nightstand under my other desk for additional storage. I hope to get the furniture moved into place this week, so I can organize everything in a more functional way.

Project #3 Closet

My closet is jam-packed full of stuff and difficult to use functionally. I am looking forward to clearing out all of the extra stuff I don’t need and making the space much more functional.

Project #4 Kitchen Pantry

My pantry is also packed and disorganized. I am looking forward to sorting through and organizing items into their own separate bins so it’s easier to find things and cook. This particular project should be a little quicker than most of the others.

Project #5 Walls

Ever since I moved in, I have been working on my walls. I’ve been filling them up with prints, pictures, signs, ornaments, and assorted other wall art, but have yet to finish hanging everything. I now have way more than enough to fill all of the walls, so it’s time to finish hanging it all and call the job done.

There are some additional projects as well, such as organizing my office supplies and cleaning out under the sink in the bathroom, but those projects aren’t quite as involved as the ones listed above. I don’t want to be out of work for too long, but I am looking forward to using my down time to take care of the big projects on my list.
