Promote You

In my opinion, one of the biggest privileges (and responsibilities) of being a blogger is promoting books and authors that I love. It’s a privilege because I get to shout about stories that have moved me and the authors who brought them to life. I get to tell everyone how much I love an author’s words and characters and the world they have built.

There are a lot of different ways that various content creator’s promote authors and books. Sometimes it’s in official sponsored content or book tours. Sometimes it’s in memes and round up posts or reviews. Sometimes it’s simply a social media post saying “I loved this book!”

How you promote authors and books, and even which authors or books you choose to promote, is completely up to you. Here are the ways I promote books:

Blog Posts

If there is a book I want to read, it will be featured at least twice on my blog- in a monthly TBR post and in a Wrap Up post of books I’ve read for the month. That’s the absolute minimum. If It’s a book I’ve received for review, purchased or been gifted, it will also be featured in a Wrap Up post when acquired. These posts are shared on my social media platforms and Wrap Up posts are linked in two separate meme linkups.

If I’ve received a book for a tour, it will be featured twice more; once during the tour with an excerpt and author info, and again once I’ve finished reading it, I will post a review. Books received for review, but not as part of a tour, will be featured in a posted review. Again, these posts are shared across my social media.

Books that I love, am excited about, or just simply meet the weekly prompt, will also be featured in one (or more) of the weekly memes I participate in. These are linked and shared on socials as well. Sometimes I just want to brag about a book, author or series and will just write a random post about them (usually a favorites list).

Social Media

While I don’t show every book I’m actively reading, I do share current reads and reads I love across my social media platforms. And I answer questions people pose about favorite books, current or recent reads, and recommendations.

I also try to share posts by authors, and interact with them to help the ratio and algorithm. And, as mentioned above I share my current blog posts.

Word of Mouth

I also just tell random people I meet on the street how much I love a book or certain author. Ok, maybe not random people, because I’m an introvert, but I do tell people I know, especially if they are also readers.
