Set in a 2054 where humans have locked themselves out of the internet and Elon Musk has incinerated the moon, Set My Heart to Five is the hilarious yet profoundly moving story of one android’s emotional awakening. One day at a screening of a classic movie, Jared notices a strange sensation around his eyes. Bots are not permitted to have feelings, but as the theater lights come on, Jared discovers he is crying. Soon overwhelmed by powerful…

This story was a little different from my normal read, but it was a fun take on a tragic love story.

The book is narrated from Jared’s POV, so everything is given from a bot’s viewpoint. It gave an interesting view of human nature and the illogical behaviors exhibited by people.

Bots are not well though of in this futuristic world. They serve menial jobs that humans don’t want and are used as villains in movies. Jared loves movies and wants to change the world’s view of bots.

Jared goes on an adventure after he starts experiencing feelings. He makes new friends and even falls in love. He is also betrayed and treated wrongly along the road as well. And has a nemesis chasing him the entire way.

Interspersed with the story are snippets from Jared’s movie scripts.

The story was both fun and tragic.
