September is National Library Card Sign-Up month. Do you have a library card? Or more than one? I actually have 4.

Here are some reasons to sign up for a library card if you haven’t already:

• You can borrow books for free
• In addition to books, you can also borrow movies and music
• Most libraries have computers available for use
• Some also check out lap tops
• Libraries offer free programs for kids including story time and educational activities
• Libraries offer free classes including resume building, computer skills, and financial skills
• Some libraries also loan tools, and household items
• Some libraries have seeds
• They offer warming/cooling centers when needed
• Most libraries have a wide selection of magazines
• Digital services include ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines

Several years ago, I was living in my car and the library was my safe haven. I was there from open to close on my days off work and frequently sat in the parking lot using the wi-fi when the library was closed. I checked out loads of books, used the computers, and felt safe from the uncertainty of my life.
