Bed and Breakup
Two exes reunite to fix up and sell the bed-and-breakfast that destroyed their marriage—because some dreams, no matter how dusty or broken, deserve a second chance. Their love story is a bit of a fixer-upper. As newlyweds, Molly and Robin made the Hummingbird Inn into a trendy destination for queer travelers in the quirky mountain town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Disclaimer: I received an eARC for review consideration through NetGalley, on behalf of the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In the beginning, there is a lot of anger and bitterness in this book. And most of it was Molly’s. In the initial chapters, I felt she was right and most of it was deserved, but as the story went on, I started to understand Robin a bit more.

Both women have been hurt by the end of their relationship, and both are still nursing those wounds even years later. They were not expecting to see each other and to have to deal with all of that pain. But they both need something from their old home, and ultimately, from each other.

I liked watching the anger and resentment slowly fade away over the course of the book, as Molly and Robin came to accept and understand each other better. I liked seeing their friendship grow again, and then something more. The love between them was always there, but the friendship had to be rebuilt first.

I loved the town of Eureka Springs and all of the people who were part of Robin and Molly’s lives. I hope that we get to spend more time there in future books. (Honestly, I want to live there). Everyone is so supportive of both women and their dreams. And I really, really wanted them to keep the inn.

There was one plot point that bothered me, and I feel like Robin and Molly never really resolved it. Did Robin leaving for (? or is it with?) another woman while chasing her restaurant dreams. Was there infidelity really involved in their split, or did Robin’s relationship with the other woman become intimate after she left. Ultimately it didn’t matter as they forgave each other for what happened, my brain just fixed on it.

Ultimately, I enjoyed the ending and would love to see where the road takes both Molly and Robin as they pursue their dreams.
