State of the World~ September 2025
I don’t even know what to say about everything that has happening in the past month. It’s been both astonishing and in some ways completely expected. Things are deteriorating at a much faster rate than I imagined, but I guess if you are taking over a country, you kind of have to move quickly. Every day I am shocked and appalled at what has happened to this country. And the absolute indifference of some people around all that has happened.
I have started really limiting my social media most days and completely staying away from it on the weekends. I’ll talk more about this in my mental health post, but I have been getting overwhelmed lately with how bad everything is getting. And with knowing it is probably going to get so much worse before anything gets better. I’m scared and angry and so terribly sad at the state of things.
There have been moments where I’ve been tempted to just give up and let what’s coming come. Thankfully they have been pretty brief and I have renewed my commitment to resisting this regime. But this month has been a lot. Between the whole Charlie Kirk murder and the aftermath there, the attacks on homeless encampments, lynchings, more school shootings, attacks on the first amendment with Jimmy Kimmel’s show being pulled… and all of that was just in the first half of the month. I hate reading that some of my favorite authors are receiving death threats, seeing that Taylor Swift can’t even enter the stadium for her fiancé’s game without added protection, and seeing protests in my area being canceled because of fear of violence from the opposition.
It’s all too much. But I also see other countries supporting us in their protests and actions as well, so that is uplifting and gives me some hope. I have to believe that we will take back our country, somehow.
