Review~ The Reality of Us

Disclaimer: I received an ALC for review consideration through NetGalley, on behalf of the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
You’re not supposed to fall for your divorce attorney when you’re going through a messy public divorce, especially when you think everything is pretty much your fault all along. And you’re not supposed to fall for your client when you’re starting your own practice and rebuilding your life.
Alice desperately wants to start over and put the past behind her. Unfortunately, her estranged husband doesn’t want to let her go and is using all of his celebrity to make her look like the bad guy. Paparazzi keeps following her around town and she just wants to hide. She blames herself for not speaking up sooner, and for covering for her husband in the past.
Owen is also starting over, after leaving his firm to break out on his own terms, at the same time putting down roots in his home town. He is surrounded by his family, but still holding himself back from truly belonging.
Over the course of the story, Owen and Alice are both embraced by the people in the town, as they put down roots, make friends, and open their hearts to each other.
Alice still believes that she is the one to blame for everything, even after her estranged husband continues to harass her and his own actions become harder for the public to ignore. When everything comes to a head, Alice feels like she’s lost everything again, Owen, her business, and her sense of self.
Luckily the people of the little town of Wattle Junction are amazing and help Alice find her way back (this is a Romance after all).
The ending was kind of perfect. And the puppy Alice adopts is adorable. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
