I’m jumping back into memes this year, because I always had a lot of fun with them before I tried to get all serious. Each Friday I will be linking up with a few different memes. Here we go:

The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy reintroduced the hop with Jennifer’s approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
Do you follow book trends and bestsellers, or do you prefer hunting down lesser-known titles?
My Answer:
Not really. I pick up books mostly on vibes. Yes, I’m influenced by what other bloggers and book friends are posting, and I follow several favorite authors, so I always know when they have something new coming, plus they post about new books that they’re excited about too. And NetGalley and Goodreads are also sources of finding books… I am drawn to covers and titles first, then dive deeper to descriptions.
I’m with you, I’m a mood reader, so the vibe is always going to be the number one reason I pick up a book. Of course, we’re all influenced by what our friends are reading, but at the end of the day, them reading or recommending a book is never going to be the only reason I chose to finally read it.
I’m not on Netgalley and am barely on goodreads but between the blogging community, social media, and real life, books come to my attention; more than bestseller lists, I think I’m plugged into awards lists chatter. But it’s all pretty organic.
The Light Between Oceans is such a good book. We read it for book club and had quite a lively discussion.
