So I’m sure I’ve mentioned this, will probably mention it again a time or two dozen, but my 50th birthday is coming soon. And as of today it is officially 94 days away! (yeah, that’s a totally random number, but this was the day I had an open spot on the calendar, so work with me).

I normally make a moderately big deal in my personal life for my birthday each year, but this one is a pretty epic milestone, so I wanted to do something to really celebrate it. This birthday deserves more than a gourmet cupcake and a fancy lunch.

Initially I was planning a Disney Cruise, then a trip to Inn Boonsboro in Maryland, but the continuing pandemic has put an end to those plans, as I can’t guarantee that it will be safe to travel across the country by mid-July. And I can’t risk catching something and bringing it home to mom. So now I’m considering a trip to the Oregon coast if I can still find a decent booking. Worse case scenario may be a stay in a nicer hotel in town, just to get some time to myself to re-charge and have a reading retreat.

The other big plan for my birthday this year is to request donations for my homeless project in lieu of gifts. I’ll be sharing my Amazon wishlist with everything that I still need for the backpacks I’m putting together to give out in December. If people don’t want to purchase something off the wish list, they can also send gift cards for supplies/food to go in the bags, or they can give directly to the National Alliance to End Homelessness if they don’t feel comfortable giving to me. If even one person donates, I’ll be happy.

And I’ll still probably have my gourmet cupcake and fancy lunch.
