Updated Book Corner

I had shared previously that I’ve been doing a lot of projects over the past several weeks. One of those projects was an update on my book corner. I was going to call it a complete re-do, but that’s not true as the 3 primary bookshelves are still in the same location. But I did add a bookcase and a storage unit that were in my former work office. And I was able to fit all of the stacked books onto the shelves (and still have some room!).

The area is a little more closed in from the rest of the room now, but there is actually more room in the corner itself since the storage unit is much narrower than the coffee table that was there before.

To make the area super cozy, I added a plush rug and some accent pillows. The lighting in that area of the room isn’t great for reading long term, but if I’m making selections from the lower shelves, I can sit comfortably.

My mini bookcase is no longer in the corner proper, but is adjacent to the entrance. To maximize the space in a small area, it is flush to the end of my bed and currently houses books from my 100 books/series read list.

The storage bins hold stationery, greeting cards, extra journals, back up supplies and my coloring books.

My smaller bookcase still holds all of my “keeper” books, those books that I love and want to re-read. It’s separated with Young Adult titles on the top 3 shelves, then Adult titles and a small selection of Non-fiction on the bottom. It also holds my Funko collection and prize Disney pieces.

The 2 large bookcases have been redone. I moved or donated most of the stuffed animals that used to live up top and added a fun, decorative vignette. I also separated the books by age category. All of my Adult books are on the left and Young Adult/Middle Grade on the right.

The left side is now all books (and my Office mini-Funkos).

The right side has my zen shelf and my Squishmallows on the bottom as that shelf is broken.

Finally is the new set of shelves, which houses my Poetry and Non-fiction books. The bins hold Bookstagram props, extra throws, electronics, etc. I also have my board games stored here, and my enamel pin collection hanging off the side.

I’ll be sharing the rest of my space soon!
