Review~ Summer Official

Summer Official
Opposites attract in this sweet, sapphic romance about two girls who reluctantly join forces to escape the effects of going viral. THIS PAPERBACK EDITION FEATURES GORGEOUS THREE COLOR SPRAYED EDGES. Saylor Ford and Heaven Goo-Campbell could not be more different. Saylor is bubbly, popular, athletic, and always coupled up. Meanwhile, Heaven is grumpy and artistic, prefers her skateboard to people, and is perpetually single. So obviously, sparks fly when they must spend the entire summer…

I enjoyed this fun summer read and really connected with both Heaven and Saylor.

Saylor is friendly and outgoing. She loves sports and is super active. She also recently came out and feels like her life is fodder for her mother’s social media followers. She hates having every detail in her life shared, and sometimes feels like her mother only interacts with her because of  her followers.

Heaven is pretty much the opposite. She is quiet and artistic, she keeps to herself and her close friends. She is close with her parents and has been out forever.

I loved the BINGO game that Heaven’s dad created for her, and that Saylor joins her to play and complete the squares. Completing the various prompts helps them to get to know each other better. I loved to see the growth of both characters.

Heaven’s parents are fantastic and super supportive, as are her best friend and his parents. Saylor has less support. Her father is practically non-existent and her mother is kind of self-absorbed. There is some parental growth through the story as well, so that’s good.

I loved how supportive of each other both Heaven and Saylor are. And their friends.

I look forward to reading more by this author.
