Weekly Recap~ 4/26-5/2/26

After doing monthly wrap-ups in 2025, I decided to go back to weekly wrap-ups for 2026. I’ll be linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer, and Sunday Salon hosted by Readerbuzz. I’ll also be linking up with Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality, and with It’s Monday, What Are Your Reading? hosted by The Book Date.

Life
I read a lot this week, but I didn’t finish much of anything. This usually leads to me having a week where I finish tons of books (not always the next week, but usually within a couple of weeks). So hopefully we’ll see that very soon.
I decided to just embrace where I am with my sleep cycle and treat it as normal. So that means breakfast at 5am and dinner at 3pm for now. But at least I am actually eating. There was a while that I was just grabbing a snack here and there in the wee hours and only eating one meal. But if I just keep embracing it, then it won’t feel as weird when my sleep times flip again (I am currently sleeping from about 8pm-4am, which is the opposite of my normal).
At least I’m embracing something about where I am in life right now. Because this being unemployed for 2+ years, having zero $$ to my name, and relying on other people is pretty hard to swallow at times. I hate it. And it just hit me hard because there are things I need that I can’t get (like things to help my eyestrain issues). And things I would love to have, that I just can’t (like the pretty sundress I saw when I took my mom shopping, or books). I am so grateful for everything that I do have… a place to live, food to eat, but sometimes it’s just hard.
Ok, enough of that. It’s a new month and a fresh start.

Life can be so difficult. I’m glad you have been able to accept your new sleep cycle. My husband has been going to bed at 8 pm and getting up at 4 am for a lot of years now. It’s sometimes tricky because I stay up later and get up later, but it is what it is.
I always think with sleep issues it is good to embrace them rather than fight them. It makes it so much harder. I am sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch right now.
Glad you are able to embrace your sleep pattern – as far as I can understand, the important thing is to get a reasonable amount of sleep. Sorry you’re going through such a rough patch – it’s grim being constantly short of money:(. Hoping something comes through for you soon.
Egads. 2 years unemployed, what a nightmare. Sleep is so important, I can tell it has been one of things making your challenges more magnified. I agree that accepting your cycle is better than fighting sleep evey day.
